7 Things to Consider When Hiring a DJ

How long have you been in business?
North Shore Entertainment has been in business for 10 years and has built a reputation of being one of Lake Tahoe’s premiere mobile DJ companies.

How extensive is your music knowledge and background?
We learned our craft as DJ's from managing record stores, working as on air personalities in radio, receiving a degree in music and working extensively with a myriad of different clients. We have an intimate knowledge of just about every genre of music out there today.

What type of equipment do you use and do you have back up equipment?
We use only professional equipment from companies such as Shure, JBL, Mackie and Numark. We also not only utilize software based programs for playback, but CDxs as well, so if there are ever any computer problems the music will continue.

Are there any fees above your hourly rate?
North Shore Entertainment never charges a travel fee, set up/break down or any extra equipment fees. You are only charged for the time music is played. Is your ceremony in one area and reception in another? We will bring two sets of equipment to cover both areas with no down time to move equipment. Do you need additional wireless mics for the ceremony? These types of equipment needs are covered under our hourly rates. There are never any hidden fees.

Do you carry insurance?
YES, North Shore Entertainment carries a million dollar liability policy to protect you and your guests at the event. Don’t hire a DJ without this protection.

What is your performance style?
This is your special occasion and we are there to enhance the enjoyment of the event for you and your guests through music. We will act as your master of ceremonies but we are not there to focus the event on us. We have built our reputation on being unobtrusive and keeping things moving along smoothly and of course keeping the crowd dancing the night away.

Will you be the DJ at my wedding or do you have other DJ’s?
Ty Kirkpatrick and Brett Neumark are the owners and operators of North Shore Entertainment and just happen to be brother in laws. One of us will be the DJ at your event, your information won’t be passed along to someone else to perform at your event. We will be in touch regularly to aid you in planning your event from beginning to end.
